Managing Your Notification Preferences
A key component to remaining active and engaged in your course(s) is establishing your notification settings. Any time changes or updates occur in the following six areas, you will receive a notification.
- Course Activities
- Discussions
- Communications
- Scheduling
- Groups
- Administrative Alerts
You can set your notifications to come to your email or other methods such as your phone via SMS. You can add multiple contact methods to your Canvas account. NOTE: Messages that come to your phone may be truncated or abbreviated. They will, however, contain links to the full notice within the Canvas course.
Frequency
The frequency of each notification can be set to as soon as possible, daily, weekly or never. You can set the frequency per delivery method. Perhaps you want all notifications to come as soon as possible to your school email and only admin alerts to come to your phone.
Keep in mind your notification preferences are set system-wide... not individually by course.
